You Are Salon Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller responsible for your personal information. We operate two mobile applications: You Are Salon (the client-facing marketplace) and You Are Salon Partners (the professional business management app). Our apps are developed and maintained by Sessami Limited on our behalf. Sessami Limited acts as a data processor and is bound by appropriate data processing agreements.

Sensitive information

Where you share health or wellness information with a beauty professional through our platform (for example, skin sensitivities or medical conditions relevant to a treatment), this is treated as special category data under UK GDPR. We collect it only with your explicit consent, and use it solely to facilitate the service you have requested. Professionals are required to handle this information with appropriate confidentiality.

Payments

Payment card data is processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We do not store your full card details on our systems. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Sharing your information

    • We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the following circumstances:
    • Between clients and professionals — to facilitate bookings, profile discovery, and in-app communication. Clients can see professional profiles; professionals can see booking details for their appointments.
    • TheGeekFloor Ltd — our technology development partner, acting as a data processor.
    • Stripe — to process payments securely.
    • Google / Apple — where you choose to connect your calendar, your appointment data is shared with the relevant calendar service under their own terms.
    • Analytics and diagnostics providers — aggregated or pseudonymised data to help us understand app performance.
    • Legal authorities — where required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Location data

We use your location to show you nearby beauty professionals and salons, and to help professionals manage their service areas. Location access is requested only when relevant to the app’s function. You can withdraw location permission at any time through your device settings, though some features may not work without it.

User-generated content and reviews

Reviews, ratings, and portfolio images you submit are visible to other users of the platform. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in public-facing content. We reserve the right to remove content that violates our terms of service.

Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or fraud prevention purposes (typically up to 7 years for financial records).

Children

Our apps are rated 18+ and are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your data is primarily processed and stored within the UK and European Economic Area. Where data is transferred outside these areas (for example, by third-party service providers), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the ICO.
